However, your pets may not be quite as thrilled if moving day arrives and they find themselves dealing with movers in your home, and seeing furniture and other familiar household items being moved out the door. Long before our movers and packers arrive, you’ll want to plan how you’re going to handle your pets so they are safe come moving day and ready for life in your new home.
Have a boarder scheduled for moving day – Having your pets with you on moving day will be stressful for them. With movers coming in and out of rooms and doorways and heavy items being carted around, it may even be dangerous for your pets. So, hire a trustworthy person to board your pets on moving day to ensure their safety while our movers are in your home and to keep your furry or feathered family members away from the hectic environment.
Have your pets groomed – Make sure your pets are clean before they step foot into your new home. Grooming your pets for a move may include having nails trimmed, getting long hair shaved or cut, and giving your pets a bath.
Pack a moving day bag for your pets – Before our movers arrive, be sure to have your pets’ favorite toys, water and food bowls, and other special items packed in a carry-along bag so they’re handy during the moving process.
Acquaint your pets with the new surroundings – After you’re sure the new place is safe for your pets, let them explore the place and become familiar with their environs before moving in. If possible, lay out familiar items (bed, toys, etc.) in the new place. This will make their transition to the new home easier.
Indulge your pets during this stressful time – Amid the hustle and bustle of moving, don’t forget to spend time with your pets and spoil them.
